Meeting between Prime Minister Støre and President Sánchez on the war in Gaza

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez met on Friday to discuss a range of issues including the war in Gaza.

‘The war in Gaza must end. It is causing unimaginable suffering and destruction. It is crucial that the international community intensifies efforts to reach a peace settlement, strengthen humanitarian assistance and establish a Palestinian state. President Sánchez and I have had a productive discussion about the work that is needed,’ said Prime Minister Støre following the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr Støre and Mr Sánchez discussed the immediate need for a ceasefire, emergency aid and the release of hostages, as well as efforts towards a future two-state solution and the relevant UN processes.

The goal of a two-state solution forms the basis of Norway’s long-standing engagement in the Middle East.
