The Office of the Prime Minister

The Office of the Prime Minister assists the Prime Minister in leading and coordinating the work of the Norwegian Government.

Ministry of Labour

The Ministry is responsible for labour market policy, the working environment, pensions and welfare policy.

Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion

The Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion seeks to strengthen the rights of consumers, families, children and young people, anti discrimination and full equality between men and women.

Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance is responsible for planning and implementing the Norwegian economic policy and for coordinating the work with the Fiscal Budget.

Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs

With responsibility for the fisheries and aquaculture industries, seafood safety and fish health and welfare, harbours, infrastructures for sea transport and emergency preparedness for pollution incidents.

Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs

The Ministry coordinates the reform efforts in the public sector and carries the responsibility for government administration policy, competition policy, ICT policy, church affairs, government employer policy and issues regarding Samis and national minorities.

Ministry of Justice and the Police

The Ministry of Justice and the Police is reponsible for the preservation and development of basic guarantees of the rule of law.

Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture is responsible for culture, the media (films, broadcasting, press and copyright), sport and the voluntary sector. The Ministry also has overarching responsibility for the state lotteries run by Norsk Tipping and for regulating gaming and lotteries run by private organisations.

Ministry of Education and Research

Ministry of Education and Research, also responsible for kindergarten.

Ministry of the Environment

The Ministry of the Environment has a particular responsibility for carrying out the environmental policies of the Government. In addition to initiating, developing and carrying out its own measures through its own instruments, the Ministry of the Environment has an important role in influencing sectoral Ministries at the national level. The Ministry is responsible for coordinating the environmental policy objectives of the Government, and ensuring follow-up and monitoring results of environmental policies.
