Bjørn Olav Megard to lead the Department of Sami and Minority Affairs

In the Council of State today deputy director general Bjørn Olav Megard was appointed as director general in the Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs. Megard takes over as head of the Department of Sami and Minority Affairs after Peter Drefvelin, who has retired.


Public administration to be fully digitalised

“Correspondence between the public and the administration will be based on digital mail,” said Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at the presentation of the Government’s new digitalisation programme today. He announced that the next major Government reform will be full digitalisation of the public sector.


The future of the Norwegian Government Quarter after the terrorist attack

The Government has decided that the Norwegian ministries are to be situated together in and around the present government quarter. The further process will be decided after the government has carried out a broad, open process in which different parties are encouraged to contribute.


Minister visits India and Singapore

The Minister of government administration, reform and church affairs, Ms Rigmor Aasrud, will be visiting India and Singapore from Sunday 5 February till Saturday, 11 February 2012. The purpose of the journey is to establish closer ties between knowledge environments in Norway and the two Asian countries in the fields of ICT and public digital services. The visit is part of the efforts to develop a Norwegian strategy for ICT based innovation and value creation.


Prime Minister of Palestine visiting Government Quarter

The Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has been visiting the government quarter in Oslo. He placed a bouquet of flowers at the government high-rise building and presented Minister Rigmor Aasrud with a figure in remembrance of the victims of the terrorist attacks on 22 July.


Risk of corruption in Norway to be explored

Norwegian minister Rigmor Aasrud wants to get more knowledge about how the country’s public administration is handling the risk of corruption. The Ministry of government administration, reform and church affairs is appropriating means for an investigative study by Transparency International on the risk of corruption in Norway.


Stricter enforcement of public procurement

The Government today presented a proposal for stricter regulations for public procurement. It will now be easier for suppliers who have not succeeded in winning contracts to safeguard their rights.


Public committee to examine the government’s regulations on quarantine

The Government has appointed a committee to make an experience analysis of the government’s quarantine regulations. Oslo University professor Inge Lorange Backer will chair the committee.


Minster of Church Affairs thanks the church for its efforts

Today the Minister of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs, Rigmor Aasrud, visited Aamot Church and talked to the church staff who provided assistance to victims of the attacks on Utøya and in Oslo and their families. - The priests, deacons and other church employees have done a tremendous job during this national tragedy, Ms Aasrud said.
