Forsvarspolitikk

Forsvarskonseptet beskriver de mest sentrale prinsipper som skal legges til grunn for Forsvarets fremtidige utvikling og virksomhet, og har følgende ordlyd:

Forsvaret skal utvikles som et moderne, fleksibelt og alliansetilpasset virkemiddel, der det tilstrebes en balanse mellom Forsvarets oppgaver, struktur og ressurstilgang. Virksomheten skal baseres på nært samarbeid med relevante sivile myndigheter og på en verneplikt som praktiseres i tråd med Forsvarets behov. Fokus skal være på å sikre og fremme norske interesser, gjennom å kunne håndtere et bredt spekter av utfordringer både nasjonalt og internasjonalt.

Forsvars- og sikkerhetspolitikk

Norges sikkerhetspolitiske rammebetingelser er i endring. Tiåret etter slutten på den kalde krigen kan betraktes som en avsluttet overgangsfase. En omfattende eksistensiell trussel er erstattet av usikkerhet og uforutsigbarhet med hensyn til de sikkerhetsutfordringer vi kan bli stilt overfor. Dette gjelder også i Norges egne nærområder, der nordområdenes strategiske betydning og ressursforvaltningen i store havområder fortsatt vil utgjøre sentrale rammebetingelser for norsk sikkerhets- og forsvarspolitikk.

Nordic Defence Cooperation - NORDEFCO

Multinational defense cooperation is regarded increasingly as an important mean to solve common and fundamental challenges in defense policy. Tight financial constraints, price increases for high-tech defense materiel and common security challenges make it natural to develop regional multinational defense cooperation.

More Training, Improved Readiness

The Norwegian government proposes to spend nearly USD 7.4 billion/EUR 5,5 billion/NOK 42.2 billion on defence in 2013, a real increase from 2012 of USD 52.5 million/EUR 39 million/NOK 300 million. This comes on top of continued efficiency gains which will lead to a combined net total funding increase of nearly USD 114,4 million/EUR 84,6 million/NOK 568 million.
