The Ministry of Culture is responsible for culture, the media (films, broadcasting, press and copyright), sport and the voluntary sector.  The Ministry also has overarching responsibility for the state lotteries run by Norsk Tipping and for regulating gaming and lotteries run by private organisations.

The International Ibsen Award 2010 goes to Jon Fosse

The International Ibsen Award for 2010 has been given to the Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse. The award will be presented on 10 September during the Ibsen Festival at the National Theatre in Oslo.

The new name for the ministry is the Ministry of Culture

As a result of changes in the organizational structure of the ministries, issues concerning the Church of Norway are as of 1 January 2010 transferred to the Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs. The new name for the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs is the Ministry of Culture.

Ariane Mnouchkine wins The 2009 International Ibsen Award

Ariane Mnouchkine was presented the award by committee chair woman Liv Ullmann. The award ceremony took place in the National Theatre in Oslo on 10 September.

Statsbygg Invites Architects to Compete: National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design

Statsbygg - Public Construction and Property, Norway - has been instructed by the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs to initiate the planning of a new, collective building complex to house the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design on the site of the old Railway Station West, Vestbanen, in Oslo.

Cultural cooperation between Egypt and Norway

Egypt and Norway have agreed to initiate cultural cooperation in some specific fields, including the intangible cultural heritage, creativity, arts and culture for children and youth and literary translation.
