The Baltic Sea Region Energy Cooperation BASREC arranges a Conference focusing on Carbon Transportation and Storage in Warsaw on March 6-7, 2012.

State Secretary Eli Blakstad held the opening remarks.

- To support our cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region BASREC has for the time period 2009-2011 established a project organisation with lead countries for the realisation of five projects. Norway has been responsible for the project on CCS consisting of three steps: A pre-study as input to the conference, this Conference on CCS focusing on transportation and storage solutions and finally, if found relevant, a new study on specific issues based on the findings and outcome from this conference and the upcoming BASREC Ministerial meeting in May in Berlin. On behalf of Norway and the project organisation I welcome you to this conference looking forward to your concrete input on these important issues, the State Secretary said in her opening remarks.

The aim of the conference is to prepare the discussion and possible decisions in the ministerial meeting in May and thus pave the way for acceptable, effective and sustainable CCS solutions in the region.
