Interaction in the Energy Sector

With today’s opening of the Norwegian embassy, and a Kazakh embassy already well established in Oslo, I believe we have a solid foundation for further strengthening our relations. I also find it appropriate that we start our official programme in Kazakhstan with an energy seminar, as energy is a key factor in our bilateral relations, Mr. Støre said.

Disarmament – reframing the challenge

- There are of course some critical differences between the nuclear disarmament agenda and the agenda that led to the ban on land mines and cluster munitions. But at the same time, there are some key, shared lessons to be learned. For example, experience from humanitarian disarmament should guide us on how to pursue and negotiate disarmament issues in general, Støre said at the opening lecture at the Leangkollen Conference in Oslo 1 February 2010.

Solheim congratulates Sri Lanka’s President on his re-election

- I would like to congratulate President Rajapakse. Norway and Sri Lanka enjoy close and longstanding bilateral relations. We intend to continue our cooperation with the Government and people of Sri Lanka with a view to promoting lasting peace and development, Mr Solheim said.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a reminder

Each year, International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks the horrors that confronted the world when the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz was liberated 65 years ago. “This day is important. It reminds us of the atrocities of the past, and of the responsibility we have today to fight genocide, oppression, racism, discrimination and anti-Semitism,” Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre commented.

Symposium: Ten Years with the Stockholm Declaration

- 10 years ago – when the Task force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research was founded – we made a pledge: Not to forget – but to educate, remember and research in order to prevent Holocaust from happening again, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre said in a speech in Stockholm on 26 January 2010.

Negotiation outcome – agreed minutes

On 18 December 2009, the chief negotiators of the EU, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein signed what are know as agreed minutes containing the outcome of the negotiations between the EU and the EFTA states on new financial mechanisms and improved market access for specific fish products for the period 2009–2013.

The Influence of COP15 on the Development of the Arctic
