The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the pleasure of inviting you to a seminar in Forum for fred og forsoning Thursday 3 May 2007 13.00 to 15.00. The seminar takes place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 7. juni-plassen/Victoria Terrasse.

The seminar will present the results of an in-depth research into the Mogadishu war economy. It is based on the findings from the first general survey of the Mogadishu economy since the outbreak of the civil war. The project examines the economic incentives for peace, as well as the economic incentives for war. The findings indicate that the business community grew into rivals of the warlord factions, and that the business community had large economic incentives to promote both state building and peace. The project is supported by the MFA.
