Ten years with the Mine Ban Convention

Norway was a driving force in the process that led to the adoption of the Mine Ban Treaty, which has now been signed by 155 countries. Forty million landmines have been destroyed in the last 10 years, and the Treaty has been a key factor in reducing the humanitarian suffering caused by landmines.

Norway was one of these. Not surprisingly, mine-affected countries played a very active role. Humanitarian organisations were able to document the terrible and unacceptable suffering caused by landmines through their work in war-torn and post-conflict countries. Read more-->
