Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre will open the Third Meeting of States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions that will take place in the Oslo Congress Centre 11–14 September 2012. More than 700 representatives from affected countries, other states, international organisations and civil society will be gathered to discuss progress in their efforts to make land contaminated with cluster munitions safe again and to assist victims. The other speakers in the opening session will be Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mr Adnan Mansour, Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Ms Christine Beerli, Mr Neil Buhne, Director, UNDP Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery, Geneva Liaison Office, and Mr Branislav Kapetanovic, a representative of civil society who has himself survived a cluster munition explosion.
