Norway welcomes Albania and Croatia in NATO

Albania and Croatia completed the NATO accession process on 1 April, and are now full members of the Alliance. "I welcome Albania and Croatia as new members of NATO", says Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

"Their accession to the Alliance will enhance regional security and stability, and we look forward to cooperating closely with both Albania and Croatia in NATO", says Mr. Stoltenberg.

The Prime Ministers of Albania and Croatia will participate at the NATO Summit in Strasbourg/Kehl on 3-4 April, together with the Heads of State and Government of the other NATO member states.

"I look forward to meeting the Prime Ministers and to welcoming them into NATO", says Mr. Stoltenberg.

Main topics at the NATO Summit are the engagement in Afghanistan, NATO's relations to Russia and other cooperating partners and the future challenges of the alliance. France will now be reintegrated in the military alliance, and the summit will celebrate NATO's 60th anniversary.

Prime Minister Stoltenberg is head of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Summit. Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Minister of Defence Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen will also participate.
