On 9 December 2014, Minister of Culture Thorhild Widvey was presented with a report entitled ”Grenselause pengespel - krev ny teknologi ny regulering?” (“Borderless gaming – does new technology require new regulations?”). In this report, an expert committee investigates the challenges that technological development poses to existing gaming regulations.

“The report provides a sound factual basis for the ministry’s ongoing efforts regarding regulation of games of chance,” says Minister of Culture Widvey.

Several processes in this field are currently underway. A study of the financial ramifications of a potential licensing model for the gaming market is being carried out, and the report will be presented on 15 January 2015. “We have also circulated new regulations for private lotteries for review. The report submitted today is part of a larger whole that encompasses other processes involving games of chance,” says the minister.
