The Government makes active endeavours to combat homelessness. Agriculture has an important role to play in maintaining a decentralised settlement pattern and ensuring employment in large areas of Norway.

From 2012, the Bergen and Trondheim offices of the Rent Disputes Tribunal will offer their services to all those who live in the counties of Hordaland and Trøndelag. This is proposed by the Government in connection with the National Budget for 2012.

"The Government wishes to help those who are having the hardest time in the housing market. In 2012, we shall be continuing housing support, starting loans and the other good schemes we offer through the Norwegian State Housing Bank. The Government is prioritising social housing policy," says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Liv Signe Navarsete.

Money to improve living conditions in Bergen and Trondheim

"The Government wishes to help improve the environment and local factors in residential areas of Bergen and Trondheim that face special challenges. The Government proposes that the two cities receive a total of NOK 7.5 million for area initiatives in 2012," says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Liv Signe Navarsete.
