Norway votes in support of granting Palestine full membership status in the UN
Press release Date: 10/05/2024
The resolution states that Palestine is fully qualified for membership in the United Nations and recommends that the Security Council reconsiders the matter favourably. Pending the approval of such membership, the resolution, which was adopted by a vote of 143 to 9, with 25 abstentions, provides Palestine with stronger rights and status within the UN. Norway was a co-sponsor of the resolution.

Announcement of areas through APA 2024

The Norwegian Ministry of Energy is today announcing this year’s licensing round on the Norwegian continental shelf – APA 2024. The annual rounds of awards in predefined areas (APA) give oil companies the opportunity to gain access to attractive acreage in the mature areas of the Norwegian shelf. This year, the APA acreage will be expanded by a total of 37 bocks in the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea.

The fight against hunger: Norway backs African Soil Health Initiative

The African soil has never been meager, contributing to the growing hunger on the continent. Norway is investing NOK 33 million in research and knowledge sharing, to boost implementation of an ambitious action plan to improve soil health and thus food security in Africa.
