"I strongly condemn yesterday
evening’s terrorist attack in the Israeli town of Rishon Letzion,"
said Foreign Minister Jan Petersen.
"My thoughts are first and foremost
with those who have been bereaved. But my reaction to the people
behind such terrorist attacks is one of anger and abhorrence. Their
goal is obviously to prevent the establishment of a dialogue and
negotiations. The Palestinian authorities must do everything in
their power to ensure that the people responsible for this atrocity
are arrested and brought to trial. I urge the parties to do what
they can to ensure security for everyone and to prevent the
extremists from controlling developments in the Middle East. I hope
that this attack will not be met by a counterattack that will
continue the spiral of violence in the region," said the Foreign
Minister.
