27th September Prime Minister Solberg attended the Global Leader’s Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, organized by China and UN Women.

Prime Minister Solberg underscored the importance of education, particularly of girls and women as a prerequisite to access, inter alia, health services and to be able to participate in the economic, political and social spheres of the country.  In this regard she also called on boys and men to engage and involve themselves in the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality.

This year’s marking of the “Bejing+20”, the 15th anniversary of the Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security and the adoption of the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” provides an excellent opportunity to make a global call for redoubled efforts for women’s rights and gender equality.
