Following the Government’s announcement on 12 March of new, far-reaching measures to combat COVID-19, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries has received a number of enquiries about food supply.

The Minister of Trade and Industry is responsible for food supply in Norway, and calls on members of the public to continue to shop as they usually would. There is no reason for people to change their shopping habits now, and there is no need to hoard supplies.

‘As the minister responsible for food supply, I would like to stress that there is no need to hoard food or other supplies. Despite the fact that some shelves are empty in shops now, there is enough food and other supplies for everyone. New supplies will be delivered on an ongoing basis,’ said Minister of Trade and Industry Iselin Nybø.  We are in daily contact with the council on food security (rådet for matvareberedskap), and we are following the situation closely,’ said Ms Nybø (Liberal Party).
