Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tord Lien visited Rolls-Royce Marine and NCE Maritime in Ålesund, as well as Kleven yard in Ulsteinvik, on Friday. During his visit, he was introduced to the maritime cluster in Møre og Romsdal county.

“The work being done in Møre is impressive. These local communities have the companies, expertise and resources to supply world-leading maritime equipment. Their accumulated knowledge is a major national resource,” says Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tord Lien. 

The maritime industry has a long tradition in Møre og Romsdal county. Skilled ship owners, ship designers and equipment manufacturers have facilitated the growth of the industry, which has become a world leader in offshore supply and service operations.

Kleven is Norway’s largest Norwegian-owned ship-building group, with around 770 permanent employees. Rolls-Royce Marine is Møre og Romsdal’s largest petroleum related company with its more than 2000 employees throughout the county. The Ålesund office is headquarters for the group’s marine activities in the Nordic region. NCE Maritime is an Ålesund based knowledge and expertise cluster that includes 18 shipping companies, 14 shipyards and more than 172 equipment suppliers.
