Prime Minister Solberg to visit Africa 1–4 July

1–4 July Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg will visit Africa as a follow-up of her post on the UN Secretary-General’s Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Group. Solberg is co-chair of the group with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda. The Prime Minister will visit South Africa, Malawi and Rwanda. Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende, will accompany the Prime Minister in South Africa and Malawi.

1–4 July Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg will visit Africa as a follow-up of her post on the UN Secretary-General’s Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Group. Solberg is co-chair of the group with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda. The Prime Minister will visit South Africa, Malawi and Rwanda. Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende, will accompany the Prime Minister in South Africa and Malawi.

In South Africa Prime Minister Solberg will meet Graca Machel and participate in an international meeting on the millennium development goals and children and maternal health. The visit to Malawi will focus on education.  In Rwanda, President Kagame will host a meeting of the Advocacy Group where the main topic will be increased international efforts for the development goals concerning children.

«It is high time that the Advocacy Group meets in Africa. This continent has been taking quantum leaps since the millennium development goals were established in 2000. At the same time, a lot of work remains before the goals have been reached in many parts of Africa”, Prime Minister Erna Solberg says.
