Regional coronavirus measures discontinued in Oslo and Viken

‘The situation in Oslo, Nordre Follo, Halden and the neighbouring municipalities has now been clarified to such an extent that the Government has decided to discontinue the regional measures. Now it is up to the municipalities themselves to consider which measures they wish to implement in addition to the national recommendations and provisions,’ says Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie.

The Directorate of Health and the Institute of Public Health have been in dialogue with the municipalities concerned. Their recommendation is for the Government to discontinue the government-initiated measures and allow the municipalities to introduce such local measures as the infection situation requires.

The regional measures apply until and including 17 February. Fredrikstad and Hvaler municipalities have requested that the measures be extended until and including 18 February to give them time to consider their own measures.

‘Over the coming days, the municipalities will decide on local measures. It is important that the population keeps up to date on the outcome of these considerations. The discontinuation of national measures does not necessarily mean that restrictions will be eased in your home municipality,’ says Høie.
