The infection levels in Viken county are still falling but remain high in some municipalities. The Norwegian Government has decided to make changes to the regional measures. "The situation is positive in the municipalities in Viken county that are covered by the regional measures. However, in some municipalities, the level of infection remains so high that they will stay at Level B, while 4 municipalities can move down to Level C. The 3 municipalities for which measures will be lifted are already coordinating local measures that correspond to Level C", says Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the County Governor of Oslo and Viken, and the municipalities affected have been in close contact regarding the matter.

The Norwegian Government has decided that the following municipalities will remain at Level B (a high level of measures) through 25 May:

  • Lørenskog
  • Ullensaker

Level B (High level of measures, as regulated by Chapter 5B of the COVID-19 Regulations)

The Norwegian Government has decided that the following municipalities will move down from Level B and have Level C measures (a fairly high level of measures) through 25 May:

  • Lillestrøm
  • Nordre Follo
  • Rælingen
  • Ås

Level C (a fairly high level of measures, as regulated by Chapter 5C of the COVID-19 Regulations)

Regional measures will be lifted for the following municipalities on 22 May, but they will introduce coordinated local Level C measures:

  • Bærum
  • Drammen
  • Lier

Further details about regional measures
The Norwegian Government may determine which measures to implement in a municipality and surrounding municipalities when it is essential that such measures are put in place quickly and in a coordinated manner in order to prevent the spread of infection.

The level of measures chosen for municipalities depends on the severity of the outbreak. There are three levels of measures that can be applied. These are Level A (a very high level of measures), Level B (a high level of measures) and Level C (a moderate level of measures).
