“I strongly condemn the terrorist attacks in Cairo today. We have seen increasing violence, bombings and repeated attacks on security forces recently. These activities undermine democratic developments in Egypt and further poison the political climate,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attacks in Cairo today. We have seen increasing violence, bombings and repeated attacks on security forces recently. These activities undermine democratic developments in Egypt and further poison the political climate,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.

On the eve of the third anniversary of the revolution in Egypt, there were four bomb attacks in Cairo and Giza. At least five people have been killed and dozens wounded. There have been a number of attacks on police officers and security forces recently. The al-Qaeda-inspired militant group Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has claimed responsibility for several of the attacks.

“Our thoughts and sympathy go to those who have lost their loved ones during the turbulence of the past three years. I call on all parties to act responsibly and exercise restraint on the third anniversary of the revolution in order to avoid further escalation of the violence,” said Mr Brende.
