Based on advice from the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Ministry of Finance has decided not to extend the temporary changes in the mortgage regulation beyond 30 September 2020.

The mortgage regulation allows a certain amount of a lender’s approved loans to deviate from the requirements in the regulation. This quarterly quota is 10 per cent of the volume of a lender’s approved loans outside Oslo, and 8 per cent for mortgages in Oslo. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Finance increased both quotas to 20 per cent from 1 April to 30 June 2020. On 11 June, the Ministry extended the increased quotas until 30 September.
