Political Director Wegger Chr. Strømmen was today appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will take up his new post this summer.

Political Director Wegger Chr. Strømmen was today appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will take up his new post this summer.

Wegger Chr. Strømmen (b. 1959) began his career in the Foreign Ministry in 1984 and has served as Norway’s Ambassador to Washington and to the United Nations in Geneva. He has been Deputy Permanent Representative of Norway to the United Nations in New York and has also served in Tel Aviv. Mr Strømmen has held the post of Political Director since August 2013.

Mr Strømmen was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2000 (in the first Government of Kjell Magne Bondevik).
