Statement by Foreign Minister Huitfeldt on Israel

‘I am appalled by the massive rocket attacks against Israel yesterday. Attacks against civilians are always unacceptable and must stop immediately’, says Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt.
‘Fortunately, so far no loss of life has been reported in any of these attacks. But they equally create fear and anxiety in the population and can awaken trauma from previous conflicts.’
‘The images from Al Aqsa in Jerusalem in recent days have been shocking. Shock grenades, rubber bullets and fireworks have no place in a Mosque. Everyone must now contribute to calming the situation so that the holidays can be celebrated in peace and civilians are not harmed.’
‘Any action that could contribute to escalating the situation must be avoided. I also give my full support to the UN's efforts.’
