The authority promotes plant, fish, animal and human health and supervises food" from the farm to the fork", from the fishing boat and the farmer, via abattoirs, dairies and importing agencies to groceries and reataurants.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is responsible for the institutional management of the Food Safety Authority. The Ministry of Health and Care Services and the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs are rersponsible for management within their respective areas.
