The Department of Government Services
The Department of Government Services is responsible for public construction and property policies in the state civil sector and for securing government buildings with the exception of the Ministry of Defence and the Office of the Prime Minister in offices of the Ministry of Defence. The department is also responsible for shared services and infrastructure in the ministerial community and leads the work on the reconstruction of the new government quarter.
The department is also responsible for the organisation and division of regional public administration.
Agency management is an important task. The department is responsible for the County Governors, Statsbygg (the Norwegian Construction and Property Management Department), the Norwegian Government Security and Service Organisation and the Joint Administration of County Governors. In addition, the department has budget responsibility for the appanage and the Royal House of Norway, as well as responsibility for the state’s royal estates.
