Norway in the UN Security Council 2021-2022
Norway is an elected member of the UN Security Council in 2021 and 2022. We will use the experience gained from many years of engagement in peace and reconciliation efforts to build bridges and seek solutions to the seemingly intractable conflicts on the Security Council’s agenda.
Norway’s development efforts are designed to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The main aim is to eradicate extreme poverty, ensure inclusive and sustainable development and promote prosperity, peace and justice throughout the world by 2030.
'The right to freedom of expression, including free access to information, is a fundamental human right. Freedom of expression is essential to enabling people to acquire knowledge and form their own opinions', the introduction to the strategy says.

Budget proposal 2023
Crisis response, food security, climate change adaptation
The budget proposal for 2023 reflects the situation caused by the war in Ukraine. Areas to be given priority are humanitarian aid, efforts to combat hunger and climate change, and increased efforts to promote women’s rights. The Government has proposed an overall aid budget of NOK 43.8 billion for 2023.
