The Government will assess supervision and control efforts in each service, among other things so as to ensure that other than purely objective considerations do not arise in consequence of close links to the commercial activities of the service. This will include an assessment of the usefulness of coordinating supervision and control work more closely in connection with accident prevention and the investigation of accidents in the various transport sectors. Consideration will be given to whether joint organization of some of the supervisory work might contribute to more reliable, efficient and cheap supervision and provide benefits in the form of common methods of analysis, equal evaluation of risks, scope for employing the same kinds of expertise on similar problems in several sectors, etc. Consideration will also be given to making a supervisory body responsible for other administrative tasks than the purely supervisory.
Supervision and control
The Government will actively promote the building up of a reporting and information system for maritime traffic in Norwegian waters. The system will be integral to the traffic regulation and monitoring system and to port state control of the coast.
