EEA and Norway Grants

For the period 2009-2014, €1.8 billion has been set aside under the EEA and Norway Grants. Projects may be implemented until 2016. Funding is channelled through around 150 programmes in the 16 beneficiary countries.

The EEA and Norway Grants support development projects in priority areas such as environment and climate change, health and childcare, conservation of European cultural heritage, research and education, Schengen measures and judiciary, social dialogue and the strengthening of civil society. A number of Norwegian partners are engaged in projects and programmes.

The EEA and Norway Grants represent the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway to reducing economic and social disparities and strengthening bilateral relations with 16 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe. Norway provides 97% of the funding.
