Former Minister of Justice and Public Security Grete Faremo (Labour Party)

Grete Faremo is responsible for the preservation and development of basic guarantees of the rule of law.

Born: 1955

Grete Faremo was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Security in November 2011. From 2009 she held the office as Minister of Defence.

In previous governments, Grete Faremo has been Minister of International Development, Foreign Office (1990-1992), Minister of Justice (1992–1996), and Minister of Oil and Energy (1996).

Mrs. Faremo has been a representative to the Norwegian Parliament, and has held numerous other political positions.

Her business career includes positions as Director of Law & Corporate Affairs of Northern Europe Microsoft, and as Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations at Storebrand ASA, where she also served as its Executive Vice President from 1997 to 2003.

Grete Faremo holds a Candidate of Law (cand.jur.) degree from the University of Oslo. She represents the Labour Party.
