New estimates indicate that the municipal sector will receive NOK 1 billion more in tax revenues in 2011.

"Growth in the Norwegian economy means increased tax revenues for local authorities. They can use this money to improve their economic situation, by paying off debt for example," says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Liv Signe Navarsete.

The extra tax revenues are made up of NOK 800 million to local authorities and NOK 200 million to county authorities.

The real growth in the total income of the municipal sector in 2011 has been calculated as NOK 5.5 billion. Growth in unrestricted income has been calculated as NOK 1.6 billion this year.
