-I think it is marvellous that Kon Tiki has been given the honour of being nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. It shows that the effort put into Norwegian film in later years is bearing fruits and that the Norwegian film industry is capable of asserting itself internationally, says Minister of Culture Hadia Tajik.

It is going to be exciting to watch the ceremony on 24 February. If Kon Tiki is indeed awarded the Oscar, we have in a way come full circle, seeing as the documentary about the expedition won an Academy Award for best Documentary Feature in 1951, Minister Tajik says.
