Norwegian Minister of Culture Ms. Linda Hofstad Helleland was Sunday elected to serve as Vice-president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA's Foundation Board was responsible for the election.

- I am honored by the trust the WADA board has given me and I am excited to take on the challenge of promoting clean sports, says Minister Hofstad Helleland.

- The international fight against doping is at a crossroad. We need to restore confidence in the integrity of the international anti-doping effort. This is a shared responsibility between governments and the sports movement.

- We need to strengthen the ability of WADA to respond to current and emerging challenges in the field of anti-doping. I am delighted to continue the great work done by the authorities and to cooperate closely with the sports movement, Minister Hofstad Helleland concludes.

The 38-member Foundation Board is WADA's supreme decision-making body. It is composed equally of representatives from the Olympic Movement and governments.
