Prime Minister Erna Solberg submitted her Government’s resignation at the meeting of the Council of State on 12 October. The application will be accepted in the Council of State on Thursday, 14 October at 10:00, with effect from 12:00 that same day. Jonas Gahr Støre’s Government will be appointed with effect from 12:00 the same day.

A press release with an overview of the members of the new government (without specification of their ministerial posts) will be issued on Thursday at approximately 10:15. 

The Council of State on Thursday 14 October at 10:00 is the final meeting for the Solberg Government. Afterwards, there will be a photo opportunity in the Palace Square, and the Prime Minister will give a brief statement.

Members of the press who wish to cover the events in the Palace Square are asked to register for accreditation by email to rvi@smk.dep.no by 13 October 14:00 at the latest. The area in front of the Palace will be cordoned off. Please bring your press card and some form of valid ID. Make sure you arrive well in advance. Decisions on which minister is to head which ministry will be taken at the first meeting of Jonas Gahr Støre’s Government in the Council of State at the Royal Palace on Thursday, 14 October at 12:00. A press release will be issued after this meeting, at approximately 12:15.

After the meeting of the Council of State at 12:00, the new Government will be available for photographs in the Palace Square at approximately 12:15. The new Prime Minister will make a brief statement.

The Royal Court will organise a photo pool with still photos and video footage from NTB and NRK in connection with both meetings of the Council of State inside the Royal Palace.

Handover ceremonies
Handover ceremonies will take place in the ministries throughout the afternoon on Thursday. The first handover ceremony will take place at the Office of the Prime Minister at approximately 13:45.

Space is limited, so press coverage of the handover ceremony at the Office of the Prime Minister in Glacisgata 1 will be for a small photo pool only. We ask media outlets to register their interest by email to rvi@smk.dep.no. The handover ceremony will be sent as a webcast on . A list of the times for the handover ceremonies will be provided in a separate press release to be issued on Thursday morning. Up to three different handover ceremonies may take place at the same time. New handover ceremonies will begin every 15 minutes.

First press conference
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will hold a press conference on Thursday, 14 October at 18:30 at the Office of the Prime Minister. To register, send an email to smkinfo@smk.dep.no by Thursday, 14 October at 16:00 at the latest. Arrival at Glacisgata 1 by 18:00 at the latest. Please bring your press card and a valid form of ID.  The press conference will be webcast on regjeringen.no Web TV.

Photos and video footage
The Office of the Prime Minister will organise sharing of photos and video footage of all the handover ceremonies. Photos available for free use will be published on Flickr. Press conferences will be recorded by the Norwegian Government Security and Service Organisation (DSS) and may be watched live on www.regjeringen.no. Videos may also be downloaded from the site afterwards. DSS will follow its practice of distributing a publishing point to media outlets that wish to send the press conferences live.
