A budget to promote employment and welfare
The Norwegian economy is in its third year of economic expansion. Employment growth is strong and the registered unemployment rate has fallen to levels last seen in 2008. Non-oil business investments are at a 10-year high. These positive developments are expected to continue. Non-oil GDP is projected to increase by 2.7 per cent this year and 2.5 per cent next year.
Plan for sustainable food systems at UN General Assembly
Minister of International Development Dag-Inge Ulstein has launched Norway’s action plan on sustainable food systems at the UN. Several organisations co-hosted the event.
Excludes exploration and production companies from the Government Pension Fund Global
The Government is proposing to exclude companies classified as exploration and production companies within the energy sector from the Government Pension Fund Global to reduce the aggregate oil price risk in the Norwegian economy.
The Prime Minister is the most senior member of the Government, responsible for coordinating and leading the work of the Government.
Minister of Finance
The Minister of Finance has a main responsibility for national economic policy and co-ordinates the preparation of the national budget.
Minister of Culture and Equality
The Minister of Culture and Equality is responsible for cultural policy, equality- and discrimination policy, media policy, sports policy, gaming and lottery regulation, and the coordination of government policy relating to the voluntary sector.
Minister of Children and Families
Minister of Education and Integration
The Minister of Education and Integration is responsible for primary and secondary school, upper secondary and tertiary vocational education, educational loans and grants, adult education and skills and integration. The minister is also responsible for Nordic cooperation.
Minister of Petroleum and Energy
The Minister of Petroleum and Energy’s responsibility is to ensure high value creation through efficient and environment-friendly management of Norway’s energy resources.
Minister of Local Government and Modernisation
The Minister of Local Government and Modernisation is responsible for public administration, local government finances, local administration and the conduct of elections, planning, housing and building policy, national mapping and geodata policy, rural and regional policy, Sami and minority affairs, government employer policy, central government buildings and property management, and contact with the Royal House of Norway.
Minister of Health
The Minister of Health is responsible for government policy related to hospitals, municipal health care services, preventive measures, psychiatric health and drug addiction.
Minister of Foreign Affairs
The Minister of Foreign Affairs is responsible for Norwegian foreign policy, the promotion of Norway’s interests internationally and the foreign service, which includes more than 100 embassies, permanent missions and delegations, and consulates general.
Minister of Trade and Industry
The Ministry of Trade and Industry is responsible for designating industrial policy with an eye to the future. This includes involvement in any policy area that affects value creation.
Minister of Labour and Social Affairs
The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs has the main responsibility for labour market policy, working environment and safety policy, pensions policy, and welfare and social policy.
Minister of Transport
The Minister of Transport is responsible for policies relating to the transport of people and goods, telecommunication ands postal services.
Minister of Defence
The Minister of Defence is responsible for the formation and implementation of Norwegian security and defence policy.
Minister of Climate and Environment
The minister of Climate and Environment has a particular responsibility for carrying out the environmental policies of the Government.
Minister of Digitalisation
The Minister of Digitalisation is responsible for ICT policy in the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation. The Minister is also responsible for the work on electronic communications in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, including responsibility for the Norwegian Communications Authority. In addition, the Minister is responsible for the Altinn portal, business-oriented ICT, the Digital21 strategy for digitalisation of businesses in Norway, and resources for ICT research in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.
Minister of Research and Higher Education
The Minister of Research and Higher Education is responsible for research policy and for higher education.
Minister for the Elderly and Public Health
Minister of Fisheries
As Minister of Fisheries, Harald Tom Nesvik (Progress Party) is responsible for fisheries and aquaculture management, seafood safety, fish health and welfare, framework conditions for the seafood trade and market access for Norwegian seafood.
Minister of Agriculture and Food
The Minister of Agriculture and Food is responsible for implementing the Government's policy concerning agriculture and food.
Minister of Public Security
Minister of International Development
The Minister of International Development is responsible for international development efforts in countries outside the OSCE, the Middle East, North Africa and Afghanistan. He is also responsible for development cooperation under the auspices of the UN system, the World Bank, the regional development banks and other global funds and programmes. In addition, he is responsible for Norad, Norec and Norfund.
Minister of Justice and Immigration
Jøran Kallmyr is responsible for the Government's justice and immigration policies.
