The Norwegian participation in ESA is administered by the Norwegian Space Centre, who also administers a support scheme with the aim of optimising the benefits from investments in the ESA programmes. In 2008, Norway contributes 381,6 million NOK to the ESA voluntary and obligatory programmes. Norway is currently in a dialogue with the European Union, discussing a possible co-operation agreement regarding participation in the next phase of Galileo. The system will be important in improving navigation on Norwegian territory and for the Norwegian industry that has solid competence within the field of satellite navigation.
