The Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Minister of Climate and Environment Tine Sundtoft would like to invite the press and other interested parties to an open meeting Tuesday 16.September at 15.00 at Felix, Aker Brygge.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Climate and Environment will speak about Norway’s role and ambitions for the UN Secretary General’s Climate Summit in New York 23.September, where they will be joined by Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Directly after the PM’s introduction and a brief Q&A, Ms Sundtoft will introduce The New Climate Economy report that is launched simultaneously in New York, Addis Abeba and Oslo by the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate (www.newclimateeconomy.net).

The Commission consist of globally renowned researchers, political leaders and CEOs.

The report adresses the need for climate change action to ensure continued economic growth, challenging the public perception ofa conflict between environmental action and economic growth and prosperity. The key finding of the report is that a climate friendly policy will lead to strong and sustainable economic growth. The report effectively reframes that debate by arguing that most of what’s good for the economy and what’s good for the climate to a large extent is overlapping

The Commission is chaired by former President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, and the report is produced in a global partnership of leading research institutes and think tanks. Norway was one of the initiators of the report.
