Presented Norwegian CCS projects in Brussels

Norwegian plans for developing full-scale CCS was presented in an internal meeting for the EU member states in Brussels 28 October. The meeting was organised by DG energy, and led by Director General Dominique Ristori. Director General William Christensen participated from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

- I am glad to see the Commission's continued focus on CCS in Europe. CCS is necessary to reach Europe's climate ambitions. The presentation of the Norwegian projects was well received at the meeting, says Christensen.

In October, the Government proposed to allocate NOK 360 million for further studies of full-scale CCS in Norway. This followed a feasibility study report on full-scale carbon capture from July, showing that it is possible to realise a full-scale CCS chain in Norway by 2022. CCS was also on the agenda when the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy met Vice President in the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič at the Tatra Summit (lenke) in Bratislava 28 October.
