Norwegian museums and other exhibition venues can apply for a government indemnity (state guarantee) in respect of loss of and damage to works of art loaned for exhibition abroad. Government indemnities may only be given for exhibitions that are of high artistic merit and that communicate an important message. The insurance value must normally be at least NOK 3 million.
Applications for a government indemnity must be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by 15 May in the year preceding the exhibition.
Below you will find the relevant guidelines, application form and questionnaire.
