Your Royal Highnesses,
Excellences,
Ministers,
Authors and artists,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Many of us have just witnessed the opening ceremony of the Frankfurt Book Fair and our Norwegian Guest of Honour Pavilion. What a beautiful pavilion it is!

The opening demonstrated the power of literature and freedom of expression. The tone for the coming days at the world’s most important book fair is set!

Frankfurt is all Norway these days. And I’m not just talking about the books.  Our art, architecture, and plays are on display across the city.

Tonight is the culmination of years of hard work.I want to thank all  who made this happen. You have made the dream we carry come true.

Now is the time to celebrate.

Our party tonight is an opportunity to return the warm German hospitality.  We are serving the best we have to offer.

We have music.

Thank you, Hanne Hukkelberg for the fantastic musical introduction. DJs Embla Karidotter and Karima F will accompany us throughout the evening.

We have food and drinks – from land and sea.

One of our priorities is to keep the oceans clean and healthy. Feel free to indulge in the Norwegian seafood from our buffet.

Last, but not least – we have our dear German friends with us tonight. A special thank you goes to our partners at Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Also a warm thank you to Museum für Angewandte Kunst for providing tonight’s venue.

And for hosting the wonderful exhibition “House of Norway”.

Please join our celebration of Norwegian literature and arts, authors and artists. I wish you all a fabulous evening.

Thank you– Skål!
