Utenriksdepartementet arrangerer i samarbeid med Fredsbyggingssenteret et seminar om Burundi og Fredsbyggingskommisjonen onsdag 13. februar. HKH Kronprins Haakon vil delta sammen med bl.a. miljø- og utviklingsminister Erik Solheim, Minister Hafsa Mossi fra Burundi og FNs Generalsekretærs spesialutsending for Burundi.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Norwegian Peacebuilding Centre, has the pleasure of inviting you to a public one day seminar on the situation in Burundi, the UN Peacebuilding Commission and the cooperation between Norway and Burundi.
Cooperation between Norway and Burundi has increased lately, both in bi-lateral terms and through Norway’s work on the UN Peacebuilding Commission. The aim of this seminar is to increase knowledge and encourage discussion of the situation in Burundi as well as the work of the Peacebuilding Commission.
The seminar will start with a session with distinguished key note speakers:
His Royal Highness Haakon Magnus, who recently visited Burundi
Minister of Environment and International Development Mr. Erik Solheim will give an introduction to Norway’s cooperation with Burundi
Minister Joseph Ntakirutimana, Special advisor for the President of Burundi, and former UN Ambassador, will give an introduction to the situation in Burundi
Executive Representative of the Secretary General in Burundi, Youssef Mahmoud will present UN's role in the Burundi Peacebuilding process.
There will also be two panel discussions with the following titles:
- The Peace Building Commission and its work in Burundi
- Challenges for the Peace process in Burundi
Already confirmed panelists include: Norway’s ambassador to the UN, representatives from International Crisis Group, African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), Institute of Security Studies (ISS) and The Norwegian Refugee Council.
The seminar will be held at NORADs auditorium, 4th floor Ruseløkkveien 26, on Wednesday February 13th from 9.00 to 15.00. Lunch will be served and attendance is free of charge.
