Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy Cecilie Myrseth (Labour Party)
Cecilie Myrseth, born on July 27, 1984, in Harstad, Norway, is Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy. Myrseth has a professional degree in psychology (Cand. Psychol) from the University of Tromsø. As Minister, Myrseth is responsible for fisheries and ocean matters within the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries. This includes overseeing fisheries and aquaculture policy, seafood policy, and maritime research and innovation policy. She is also in charge of coastal management and policies related to ports and maritime transport. Cecilie Myrseth was the former spokesperson on fisheries policy for the Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet). She has been a Member of Parliament since 2017, where she served on the Business Committee and the Health and Care Committee, before being appointed Minister in October 2023. In addition, she has been a member of the Labour Party’s central committee since 2019. Myrseth has also held leadership roles in the Troms Labour Party and several positions in the county council and county executive of Troms.
