Ms Astri Aas-Hansen (Lab.) (b. 1970) was appointed Minister of Justice and Public Security of Norway on February 4, 2025.

Prior to her appointment as Minister, Ms Aas-Hansen served from 2017 as a judge at the Oslo District Court. Since 2021, she was also the chair of the Storting’s independent oversight committee for the Norwegian intelligence, surveillance, and security services (the “EOS Committee”); she was the deputy chair of the same committee from 2019 to 2021.

Ms Aas-Hansen previously held the position as State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Public Security from 2005 to 2013. Before and after her tenure as State Secretary, she was employed as an attorney at the law firm Elden DA.

The Minister is from Lillesand and holds a law degree from the University of Oslo.
