The Ministry of Defence and Navantia have through a judicial mediation settled the Helge Ingstad case

The Norwegian Ministry of Defence and Navantia have agreed to settle the dispute between the parties about the Helge Ingstad frigate. Simultaneously, the parties have entered into an agreement to ensure Navantia’s continuing life cycle support and upgrades to the F310 class frigates for a maximum of six years.

The settlement is based on a transfer of value by the way of discounted prices in works that will be done by Navantia in relation to life cycle support and upgrades to the F310 class frigates. The discounts will amount to a maximum of 47,5 million euro to be applied during the duration of the agreement.

This settlement agreement, resulting from a judicial mediation process overseen by the Oslo District Court, will lead to the discharge of all court proceedings.

“I am pleased that this case has been resolved through an amicable solution. Navantia has for several decades been and will still be an important supplier to the Norwegian Defence sector and for the support of the Norwegian frigates. We are now eager to strengthen the professional relations between the parties in the years to come”, states the Norwegian Minister of Defence, Tore O. Sandvik.

Navantia, a state-owned Spanish company that builds and sustains advanced military vessels and defence systems, constructed the F310 frigates and has been providing sustainment services for the Nansen frigates since 2013 under various framework agreements.

"Navantia is pleased to have reached an agreement that puts an end to this case and extends our collaboration with Norway. This allows us to put our expertise at the service of European defence and collective security, and demonstrate our commitment to our customers," said Navantia Chairman, Ricardo Domínguez.
