On 1 January 2002, the Ministry of Education, Research and Church Affairs had its name changed to the Ministry of Education and Research, listed here as the Ministry of Education and Research (of 2002). Church affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Culture (of 1991), which now had is name changed to the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs.
On 17 October 2005, responsibility for kindergarten affairs in the Ministry of Children and Family Affairs was transferred to the minister responsible for the Ministry of Education and Research (of 2002). On 1 January 2006, these affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Education and Research (of 2002). This had its name in Norwegian changed to «Kunnskapsdepartementet», listed here as the Ministry of Education and Research (of 2006). The Ministry of Children and Family Affairs now had its name changed to the Ministry of Children and Equality, listed here as the Ministry of Children and Equality (of 2006).
