Opportunities for Poland to change the energy mix

The transformation from coal to low carbon development is a particular demanding challange for countries like Poland, where the energy mix is dominated by coal. There are also possibilities for a change, if different opportunities are used and through a social dialogue to facilitate the process.
This is enlightened in the Report from the seminar with 160 participants in Krakow, 25 October.
The Polish Ministry of Environment and the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment had a joint seminar on Just Transition in Krakow 25 October. This seminar was part of the bilateral cooperation under the EEA and Norway Grants, building on many years of broad co-operation on climate and environment, and financed through the national bilateral fund. Institute of Environmental Protection - National Research Institute, Poland (IOS PiB) and Vista Analyse facilitated the event and the enclosed report. 160 participants from governments, labour unions, business and industries, researchers and NGOs took part in the bilateral seminar.
- We had a fruitful dialogue between Poland and Norway on the Just Transition seminar in Krakow 25 October, as underlined in the recently released report. In the next 6 years we will co-operate closely with Poland on Climate, Energy, Environment and low Carbon development. 140 mill euros will be available under EEA and Norway Grants and it is up to Poland to apply these funds in a way that significantly contribute to reduce greenhouse gases, says Junior Minister Astrid Knutsen Haarstad.
