Norway welcomes US return to Paris Agreement and WHO

‘It is very good news that Joe Biden, on his first day as US President, announced that the US will rejoin the Paris Agreement and will remain a member of the World Health Organization (WHO),’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.
‘These are clear signals that the US wishes to take on a more active role in international cooperation in key areas such as climate change, health and the global vaccination effort,’ said Ms Eriksen Søreide.
Norway welcomes President Biden’s message promising greater US involvement in the international arena and the strengthening of US alliances.
‘We are ready to work together with the US in areas that are of priority to Norway, and that are of importance to the world. We are pleased that President Biden has emphasised the importance of democratic values so clearly and seeks to be a president who unites the people. Norway looks forward to close cooperation with the US on promoting democracy and human rights,’ said Ms Eriksen Søreide.
‘Now it will be crucial for American politicians to lead the way in uniting and reconciling a divided society. That will be a formidable task,’ said Ms Eriksen Søreide.
