The Gaming and Foundation Authority

The Gaming and Foundation Authority is a governmental body that has two subordinate professional supervisory bodies, the Gaming Authority and the Foundation Authority, which have a joint director and administration.

The Gaming Authority was created 1 January 2001 and supervises the management and control of private lotteries and state-operated gaming. This was in response to the Storting's desire to improve governmental control of the growing gaming and lottery market in Norway.

The Foundation Authority was established 1 January 2005 and is responsible for supervising and controlling all foundations in Norway pursuant to the Foundation Act.
