Syria crisis demands continued attention
‘The crisis in Syria must not be forgotten, even at a time of many ongoing conflicts and wars. 90 per cent of the Syrian population live in poverty, according to the World Bank. Norway will therefore provide NOK 500 million in support to the work by our partners in Syria in 2024,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
Restricting the possibilities of entry for Russian citizens
The government is now further restricting the opportunity for entry to Norway for the purpose of tourism. The change will be in effect as of 29 May.
Norway recognises Palestine as a state
‘The Norwegian Government has decided that Norway will recognise Palestine as a state. In the midst of a war, with tens of thousands killed and injured, we must keep alive the only alternative that offers a political solution for Israelis and Palestinians alike: Two states, living side by side, in peace and security,’ said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
